India Tour
February 1-16, 2009
14 days / 15 nights -
$1,360

Dear Adventure Seekers:
In November 2002, I journeyed to India, arriving in Delhi with
only a promise that someone would pick me at 2am, deliver me
to a hotel and that we could discuss a solo tour that following
afternoon. I met Viney Tyagi in his office, www.unicrystalholidays.com,
and in two hours, he had arranged a two-week tour, with a driver
and private car to see the highlights of Northern India's Rajasthan
area, the "Golden Triangle".
The cost was less than $900, and I can remember
every exciting day like it was yesterday. The sights, mostly
of every day life, are truly fascinating. Since I didn't have
a tour guide, I missed many of the special experiences one gets
from visiting the palaces, tombs, forts and museums that so enhances
a group tour experience.
At the urging of Sandi and the Unifem group that visited Guatemala
with me last month, I contacted Viney in Delhi to inquire about
an adventure in 2009. He responded with a ten-page itinerary
within 24 hours, and answers to 15 additional questions from
me the next day. Obviously, I am as impressed now as I was six
years ago about his ability to arrange a 14-day tour($1027) for
special friends who'd like to join us in mid-January. Weatherwise,
it is the best time to travel, and the price of $1360, plus airfare(around
$1300) is extremely affordable, compared to the commercial tour
companies. That includes a $300 tax-deductible donation per person
to Light the Way Foundation, www.light-the-way.org, along with
a $33 fee for expenses Sandi and I will incur for pre and post
tour potlucks here in Irvine, books, copies, etc. Any overage
will be donated to the foundation as well. We are limiting the
group to 14 participants, most of whom you have traveled with.
If you'd like me to send the ten-page itinerary, with all the
hotels (and their websites) listed, along with the 15 questions
regarding deposits, meals, shuttles, etc. please let me know.
Once I get a feel for who wants to join us, I can work on the
dates and arrangements I need to make for this very special adventure.
Of course, if we don't get the needed number of participants,
I can open it up to a number of mutual friends.
I sincerely hope you can join us.
Richard
